See the Eagles at Smithville Lake
Posted on Monday January 08, 2018
If you missed Eagle Days at the lake, you can still catch a glimpse of the eagles.
Missouri is one of the leading states for viewing bald eagles in winter. Thousands of these birds migrate south from Canada and the Great Lakes to hunt in Missouri where open waters like Smithville Lake provide plentiful food.

With binoculars or the naked eye, you can spot bald eagles in large trees along the water's edge. A great place to catch eagles flying and fishing in the morning is the open water north of the W boat ramp. Bundle up and look north to see this annual wonder.
